Flavours of Malaysia in Lima

30 April 2019 1 views

This year was the 4th time that the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima celebrated the Flavours of Malaysia with Peruvian students. Co-organized with the Municipality of Lima, the 4th Flavours of Malaysia programme successfully showcased Malaysian cuisines to 80 culinary students at INTECI, a public institute that teaches gastronomy skill in Peru.

The “chefs” were the staff of the Embassy sharing their favourite dishes, such as nasi lemak, kuih bakar pandan, and jemput-jemput udang. There was even a TehTarik demonstration session as the finale of the activities on that afternoon. Malaysian ingredients, such as pandan and kuchai leaves were used for additional depth to the flavours and savours.

After the event, the students were given a recipe pamphlet for them to try their hands and experiment with the Malaysian cuisines. They were happy and cannot wait to get home to replicate the knowledge learnt from the two chefs. On the other hand, the two chefs; Mrs. Nurul Hidayah and Mrs. Lailatul Akmal, being their first experience in such cooking demonstration, sighed a big relief and also excitement at the same time.

A satisfying program to be undertaken again, hopefully soon!
