ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL) commemorated the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in a ceremony jointly organized by the ASEAN Embassies in Lima (Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand) on 8 August 2020. The ceremony was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Indonesia, who hold the current chairmanship of the ACL. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru was represented by the Director-General of Asia and Oceania, H.E. Amb. Cecilia Galarreta. Ambassadors of Australia and South Korea as well as the representatives of the First Lady’s Office were also present at the ceremony.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the donations by the three Embassies to the representative of the First Lady’s Office. The donations will later be distributed to 150 families that are affected by the COVID-19 in coordination with the First Lady’s Office and other relevant agencies in Peru. The modest donations by ACL is a show of solidarity with the Peruvians during this difficult time.
