MALAYSIA DAY IN THE LAND OF LLAMAS
Malaysian Community in Peru congregated at the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima, Peru to celebrate its 55 years of the formation of this country. The Federation of Malaya was joined by Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia on 16 September 1963.
Being a multiracial and multicultural society like Peru, Malaysia has successfully forged harmony and unity among its diversed ethnicity through their shared values and norms.
This year, the Malaysian community was joined by 40 visiting Malaysians who were participating the Four-Wheel Drive Trans Andes Expedition 2018. The Malaysian visitors have indeed enlivened the celebration.
Their goodwill expedition has done Malaysia proud in fostering friendship, enriching cultures and promoting understanding between the people of Malaysia and Peru. The celebration of the Malaysia Day at the Embassy has brought all Malaysians together in esprit de corp.
They shared with each other their life stories and adventures in South America over some of the famous Malaysian cuisines that reminded them of home, such as Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik.
The pinnacle of the celebration was the flag-hoisting ceremony accompanied by Malaysia’s national anthem of Negaraku and a simple cake-cutting event. HIDUP MALAYSIA! VIVA MALASIA!
