The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni of Peru organised a Malaysian Cultural Promotion Event with the support of the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima, Peru on 17 August 2018. The event was held at the prestigious National University of San Marcos, the oldest university in the whole America region. It was attended by more than 300 students of San Marcos.
Dr. Elizabeth Canales Aybar, Rector of National University of San Marcos graced the event and commended on the effort to expose the students to Malaysia’s diverse society and multi aspects of its arts, cultures and cuisines.
H.E. Chuah Teong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Peru made a brief presentation about Malaysia as a melting pot of cultures and its social traits. He echoed that learning through experience and interaction would provide the students better understanding than the traditional learning process. Cultural exhibition, display of national costumes, screening of short Malaysian movie, dance performance and a taste of Malaysian food were showcased.
The MTCP Alumni of Peru displayed the spirit of camaraderie. The Embassy of Malaysia will continue to support and looks forward to working together for future events organised by the MTCP Alumni of Peru.
