The Embassy of Malaysia and Municipality of Lima jointly organised a dancing traditional class under programme “Muni Becas” with a view to promoting the performing arts and culture of Malaysia to the youngsters in Peru. This event was held on 25 October 2016 at Conde de Super Uda, Lima.
The representative of the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima taught the Peruvian youngsters two types of traditional Malaysian dances, Tarian Joget Kereta Lembu and Tarian Sumazau. They participated excitedly and were rather eager to learn the new culture and also the dance moves which were considered exotic to them. Given the response we received, the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima is considering of hosting similar activities next year to further to promote Malaysian culture in Peru. Hopefully, in the future our culture may be spread across this Andean country.
