A seminar was co-organized by Embassy of Malaysia and Ministry of External Relations of Peru at the Diplomatic Academy of Peru in Lima on 26 April 2016 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Peru. The panel of discussants were H.E. Ambasador Jorge Bayona Medina, H.E. Ambassador Alejandro Gordillo Fernandez and William Belevan Mc. Bride, ex Ambassadors of Peru to Malaysia, H.E. Ambassador Jose Antonio Bellina, Director General of Asia and Oceania Division, Ministry of Foreign Relations of Peru, Dr. Carlos Aquino and Professor Hector Maldonado Felix from San Marcos National University and H.E. Ambassador Chuah Teong Ban. Many diplomats, government officials and young diplomats at the Diplomatic Academy attended the seminar.
The ex-Ambassadors of Peru to Malaysia spoke fondly about their outlook of Malaysia, assessments and experiences, both professional and personal, when serving as Head of Mission at their Mission in Malaysia. The professors gave an overview of the economic developmental history of Malaysia and the social cultural links between Malaysia and Latin America.
H.E. Ambassador Chuah summarised the various achievements in the 30 years of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Peru. He also touched on the current prospects and future directions of the bilateral relations.
