The Ambassador of Malaysia to Peru made a visit to the Prefect’s Office of Lima on 26 May 2017 at the invitation of the Prefect who was keen to learn more about Malaysia’s administration structure. Before the meeting with the Head of Prefect of Lima, the Ambassador was given a tour and briefed on the office’s organizational structure and its function.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of Malaysia exchanged views with the Prefect of Lima on the administrative and judiciary system of Malaysia and Peru. The Ambassador of Malaysia shared some of Malaysia’s experiences and best practices of judiciary administration to the Prefect.
This meeting has been mutually beneficial. It has enabled the Embassy to better understand the administrative structure of Peru and the common problems faced by the local society of Lima. The Prefect’s office learned of a glimpse of the ongoing transformation programme undertaken by Malaysia to innovate the public administrative machinery.
The Head of Prefecture of Lima, who represents the President of Peru consist of 43 sub-prefects representing each district in Lima. Together they form the first level of frontline jurisdiction in Lima. They are responsible for filing simple civil cases from the complaints received by the people in Lima and to resolve them amicably.
