In observance of the 127th anniversary of the martyrdom of Philippines national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal on 30 December 2023, Consul General Deddy Faisal attended the wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal Park in Davao City. He was joined by Consul Ahmadulkuddus Husain.
The commemoration event was held with the theme "Rizal : Pundasyon ng Kahapon, Isinasabuhay Ngayon." (Rizal : Foundation of the Past, Living Today).
Rizal Day was first instituted in 1898 with a decree by President Emilio Aguinaldo that the 30th of December every year be a day of national mourning in honour of Dr. Jose Rizal and other victims of the Philippine Revolution.
