On Thursday, 18th February, 2016, CG Abdullah received the visit by Mr. Musolini Lidasan, Director of Al Qalam Institute, Ateneo de Davao University at Chancery in Davao City.
The purpose of the meeting is to seek Consul General Abdullah advice and support with regard to the two proposals as follows:-
(i). Al Qalam Waqf SEEDS: Welfare Assistance Qualification Fund for Social Economic & Educational Development Support ( Waqf: Islamic Endowment Fund )
In this proposal, Al Qalam Institute is keen to learn the Malaysia’s experience in developing and managing the Waqf Islamic Endownment Fund.
In this regard, JAKIM and Pusat Pungutan Zakat can extend its knowledge and experience to Al Qalam scholars.
(ii). Muslim Scholars Meeting for Unity and Strengthening of Islamic Faith – A proposal for an Intra-Dialogue.
In this second proposal, Al Qalam Institute is seeking Malaysia’s assistance in supporting the Intra-Dialogue Forum scheduled to be held on 28th March, 2016 – 1st April, 2016 in Davao City.
Comment:
The Intra-Dialogue forum will gather peace stakeholders for a dialogue on the Comprehensive Agreement of the Bangsamoro and the prospect of sustaining peace in Mindanao.
As the Government and the MILF have committed to continue the peace process although both parties conceded the BBL will not pass within the administration of President Aquino.
In this regard, Al Qalam Institute sees the need to initiate discussions with stakeholders on how to sustain the peace in Mindanao.
Among the resource persons expected to attend the forum are the Ulamas, Muftis, Islamic Scholars, Academe, Professionals, Community leaders, etc.
To implement this forum, Al Qalam Institute is looking for potential funding agencies/ organizations to support its activities.
