On Thursday, 3rd March, 2016, CG Abdullah met Universiti Putra Malaysia Professor Madya Dr. Dzulkifly Mat Hashim at Chancery in Davao City.
In a bid to promote an understanding and appreciation among stakeholders on the role and importance of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the development of Halal industry, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) has staged a three-day congress dubbed as BIMP-EAGA Halal Congress: An Academe Perspective. The event is co-organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The Congress, which carries the theme: "Integrating HEIs in the Halal Value Chain", has begins on Tuesday until Thursday at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City.
Professor Madya Dr. Dzulkifly was invited by the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) to present his paper on Academe Perspective: Halal Food Production Standards and Future Areas for Research and Development.
USM, one of the premier State Universities in the Philippines, has started including halal information in the curriculum as well as in research, extension and production. It offers major studies in halal food management and technology for the first time under its Bachelor of Science degree in Islamic Studies. The university is also working for the inclusion of halal science in the curriculum.
