CG MET EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MAHARLIKA SPORTS DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE INC. AND TEAM MEMBERS IN DAVAO CITY

On 28th January, 2016, Consul General Abdullah met Mr. Edgar Lim Te, Executive Director of Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc. (Maharlika) and Team Members from Davao City Mayor Office, DepEd and University of Southern Philippines (USeP) in Davao City.

 

On 28th February, 2013, Maharlika has expanded its project in Central Mindanao and ARMM in partnership with the 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army under the command of General Aurelio particularly in Nuro, Upi in Maguindanao, the provinces of Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and other parts of Maguindanao.

 

Maharlika is working on peace and development, training the youth on sports can contribute to our goal of attaining peace. The initiatives is to create a productive, inspiring and sustainable society where discipline and productivity of the youth are well enhanced and being nurtured by caring and sharing communities.

 

In 2011, Maharlika organized the International Children and Youth Festival in Tagum City which was held in coordination with the city government and its City Tourism Council. Tagum City, through Mayor Rey Uy, has designated a 4-hectare area as training ground for football enthusiasts.

 

Maharlika coordinated the sports development program in Tagum City’s 23 barangays, including in private and public elementary schools; the 8 municipalities of the province of Davao del Norte and the Davao del Norte Football Association; and the football community of nearby cities and provinces.

 

Part of their activities were the Maharlika Cup Tagum 2012 -– Children and Youth Football Festival; Players' Futsal Clinic in the barangays; Coaches' Development through workshop on Best Practices for Coaching Grassroots and Youth Football; Referees' Development through Futsal Refereeing Workshop conducted by the only two FIFA Licensed Futsal Filipino Referees Rey Ritaga and Porferio Barias Jr.; and Assemblies for the Organization and Structure of Key Leaders for Tagum City Football Development.

 

In 2013, Maharlika projects cover development programs through a series of competitions such the Maharlika Development League consisting of the Cluster Area League Competitions for 12 under and 14 under categories; Maharlika League Unifying Championship for the 8 cluster area league winners; Maharlika Solidarity Cup 2013 for playoffs of cluster area league 2nd and 3rd placers; and championship of South vs Central and the Maharlika Cup Tagum 2013 that covered the International Children and Youth Football Festival of 8-under and 16-under for boys and girls.

 

Maharlika aimed to fully organize and institutionalize, among others, the Spontaneous Player's Skill Enhancement Activities — "Street Football Settings", Sports Administration Development Programs; and Sports Medicine Course.

 

They also like to organize a Football and Futsal Training Academy Tour and host both national and international competitions.

 

Comment:

Kelab Bolasepak Harimau Mega (HMFC) is interested to establish cooperation with Maharlika Sports Development Institute Inc. to set up Football Academy in Mindanao. Both side is expected to sign the MoU in conjunction with the 2016 Strategic Planning Meeting BIMP-EAGA in Davao City from 23 – 25 February, 2016.
