Consul Mohammad Khalil Ibrahim accompanied by Vice Consul Nurul Ezhar Salehuddin attended the 2014 Kalilangan, General Santos City’s 75th Foundation Anniversary Celebration. The Consulate officers departed from Davao City at 1:00 pm on 21 February 2014 and arrived in General Santos City at 3:30 pm. They were welcomed at the event by City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera together with Atty. Abdulrrahman T. Canacan, Chancellor Mindanao State University (MSU) and the event organizer in General Santos City.
2. The program started with the invocation, singing of the national anthem, followed by the opening remarks of Atty. Abdulrrahman T. Canacana and closing remarks of Hon. Ronnel C. Rivera, Mayor of General Santos City. The event organizer emphasized in his opening remarks the importance of appreciating General Santos’s rich cultural heritage and traditions that will be showcased in this year's edition of 2014 Kalilangan Festival.
3. The program showcased five (5) different cultural performances namely, Pagdaong at Pasasalubong, Ang Heneral at ang Pagsinta, Pag-baliktanaw at Pagunita, Paglinang at Pagkinang, and Deklerasyon at Dedikasyon. The event was also graced with traditional Muslim and modern dances. The acts shows the struggles for growth coupled with the ever embracing principle of living in harmony in diversity that came into view thriving pluralistic communities and the city as haven for multiculturalism.
4. The visit to the event was successful in establishing good relationship between representative of Malaysian government through the representation of the Consul and Vice Consul with the local government of General Santos City. This celebration is done once a year to commemorate General Santos City’s foundation anniversary.
