2,275 houses were burned by a fire that lasted for more than four hours on Friday, 4 April, 2014 at 8:15 pm. No casualties were reported but the fire leaves around 3,547 families with 6,000 family members homeless and destroyed P156 million worth of property. Consulate General of Malaysia together with PERWAKILAN Ladies, National Commission of Muslim Filipino (NCMF), and Mindanao Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) visited the victims of two barangays, Isla Verde 23-C and 22-C to distribute relief goods on 10 April 2014. Over 2,000 packets of relief goods such as clothes, foods, medicines, utensils, pails, soap, rice, and water were distributed to the fire victim at Manuel Quezon Elementary School and Magsaysay Park in Davao City.
Deputy Mayor Randy M.Usman proposed that the building materials are required to rebuild the mosque and immediate donations of basic needs such as food, clothes and medicines will be a big help to the victims.
