Departure of Malaysian Peace Monitors in the International Monitoring Team (IMT) in Mindanao

Marking the end of their tour of duty in Mindanao, members of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) led by IMT Head of Mission, First Admiral Dato' Pahlawan Amzah Sulaiman, held a flag lowering ceremony at 5.00 p.m. at IMT headquaters in Cotabato City on November 29, 2008. The ceremony involved Malaysian, Brunei, and Japanese members of the IMT.

The event was witnessed by the Consul General of Malaysia, Mr Nik Mustafa Kamal Nik Ahmad, Defence Attache, Col Mohd Khlir Mohd Noor and officials from the Goverment of Republic of the Philippines and MILF.

The Malaysia contingent in the IMT comprised of officers from the Armed Forces of Malaysia (ATM), Royal Police Department of Malaysia (PDRM) and Mr Raja Saifful Ridzuwan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya. The Malaysian peace minister departed Awang Airport, Cotabato City at 3.00 p.m. on November 30, 2008.
