DINNER HOSTED BY CONSUL GENERAL FOR THE MALAYSIAN CITIZENS IN MINDANAO

On 27 April 2012, Consul General Mohammad Azhar Mazlan hosted a get together dinner at his residence under ‘Program Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia’. More than fifty (50) Malaysians residing in Mindanao were present. Thirty one (31) of which were  Malaysian students studying medicine at the Davao Medical School Foundation and San Pedro College. Five (5) other students were from different colleges in Davao City. Others were Malaysian businessmen and those married to locals (accompanied by their family members). In his welcoming remarks, the Consul General iterated various issues of mutual concern. He emphasized the importance for Malaysians residing in Mindanao to register with the Consulate General. As Malaysians, the Consul General mentioned how fortunate they were being able to enjoy peace, development and prosperity as evident by Malaysia’s progressive level of development thru various programs initiated by the Government. Having lived in a foreign land, he also reminded them to observe laws and regulations in the Philippines.

 

 

Thereafter, they were invited to partake the food being prepared like steamed rice, goat curry, grilled seafood (fish, squid and prawn), jackfruit-dried fish curry, stir fried mixed vegetables, fresh mixed vegetables with sambal, fresh fruits (durian, pineapple and watermelon) and assorted cakes as dessert. The dinner program has brought together most if not all Malaysians residing in Mindanao. The newly arrived students were able to get some useful advice and tips from those who have resided in Mindanao, duration ranging from two (2) years up to twenty three (23) years.
