On 07 December 2024, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Davao City organised an Engagement Session with Muslim Youth Leaders in Davao City at Malagos Garden Resort.
The event was participated by representatives of the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office (DCMAO) led by Deputy Mayor Gabriel Nakan and Youth Representative of DCMAO, Ms. Sittie Aysha Pumbaya. Madam Marilou W. Ampuan Al-Haj, President of Philippines Halal Trade & Tourism who is an active advocate in promoting Halal industries in Philippines was also present. Also invited were Deputy Mayor Rahima M. Usman-Palao representing the Maranao tribe; Deputy Mayor Pamikiren Latip P. Arumpac Jr. of the Iranun tribe; Deputy Mayor Michael A. Mohamad of the Kagan tribe; Deputy Mayor Estrellita Tanjili Mahamud of the Sama tribe and Deputy Mayor Edyamein Taha Ahalul of the Tausug tribe.
This activity is amongst Malaysia's initiatives in fostering strong ties with Davao City Muslim's community and continuously strengthening the existing close collaboration with the City Govenrment of Davao.
