FAREWELL CALL BY THE INTERNATIONAL MONITORING TEAM (IMT) SITE 4, GENERAL SANTOS CITY ON CONSUL GENERAL MOHAMMAD AZHAR MAZLAN, 15 FEBRUARY 2012
Col. Ab Aziz bin Abdullah of Armed Forces of Malaysia, Team Site Leader of International Monitoring Team (IMT) based in General Santos City paid a farewell call on the Consul General at the latter’s office on 15 February 2012. The current IMT (Mission Sixth) is scheduled to end its mandate by the middle of March 2012. He was accompanied by Maj. Ahmad Murad bin Jailani (Malaysia), Capt. Malek Fadillah bin Kefli (Brunei) and SSgt (L) Shaminan bin Abdullah (Brunei). In the afternoon, Consul General joined the Colonel for a farewell call on the Mayor of Davao City, Hon. Sara Z. Duterte. During the call, both sides discussed peace and security issues in Mindanao, particularly in Davao region. The Consul General informed the Mayor about the Malaysian carrier – MASwings which is scheduled to service Kota Kinabalu-Davao City-Cebu route by the second quarter of 2012. MASwings is a subsidiary of Malaysia’s national carrier, Malaysia Airline (MAS). Both sides concurred that this would certainly enhance further relations between business people and improve the people-to-people contact for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) through air connectivity for mutual benefit.
