On Friday, 6th June, 2014, Consul General Abdullah participated in the National Barong Week Opening Ceremony organized by SM Lanang Premier Mall in partnership with Tagum Agricultural Development Corporation, Inc. (TADECO) at SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
The exhibit dubbed ‘Pinoy Fashion: The T’nalak Barong Exhibit’, featured the T’nalak Barong collections of Davao-based architect Michael Ebro Dakudao and fashion designer Emi Englis, to showcase the Philippine national costume and impart appreciation for the T’nalak cloth, the traditional tapestry made by indigenous peoples in Mindanao. The public view was officially launched and graced by Atty. Gil Norman who represented City Administrator Atty Melchor Quitain, Consul Koichi Ibara from Consulate of Japan in Davao City and Arch. Michael Ebro Dakudao.
