The province of Compostela was devastated by the typhoon Pablo (International name: Bopha) last December 2012. Aids and relief efforts from Malaysia were immediately extended to the affected areas. 56-man team from Malaysian non-governmental organization also known as Kelab Putera 1Malaysia came to Compostela Valley Province to provide relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Pablo. They undertook five-day humanitarian volunteer mission in the areas devastated by the typhoon. Continuous medical assistance was also given to the victim through the medical teams such as MERCY Malaysia.
Consul General Abdullah Zawawi Tahir, Head of Mission received a plaque of appreciation from the Provincial Government of Compostela Valley on 27 January 2014 given by the Governor Arturo T. Uy’s representative, Ms.Dinah Lynn V.Ilagan. The plaque was a sign of appreciation to the Malaysian Government for the invaluable assistance and support extended to the Province of Compostela Valley in coping with the aftermath of Typhoon Pablo leading to achievement of a holistic recovery and rehabilitation.
