FROM THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF MALAYSIA IN DAVAO CITY

REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES

 

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Davao City would like to inform that Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines has lifted the martial law imposed in Maguindanao province on 12 December 2009. The major objectives for declaring the martial law in Maguindanao province have been attained, including the arrests of key suspects in the November 23 mass killings of 57 innocent victims nearby Shariff Aguak town, Maguindanao province. However, due to security reasons in the interest of public safety, the Province would remain under the State of Emergency.

2.         In this regard, Malaysians are advised to put on hold any travelling plans to Maguindanao province until further notice from the Consulate General. The Consulate General of Malaysia in Davao City would continue to closely monitor the situation in Maguindanao province and appropriate notices would be issued as and when it is deemed necessary.
