The Consulate General participated in the civic-military parade in conjunction with the 75th Araw ng Dabaw Celebration on 16 March 2012. It is commemorating the signing of the Davao Charter, creating the city of Davao in 1937. The Parade was well attended by 284 contingents. Among the participants were civic, non-government organizations (NGOs), People’s Organizations (POs), schools and universities, government institutions and barangay units (village). It started at the Roxas Avenue and ended at the Rizal Park, San Pedro Street (about 2 kilometers) in front of the City Hall where a formal ceremony was being held. Present at the Ceremony were the Hon. Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, City Government Officials, members from the Diplomatic Corp, including the Consul General of Malaysia and Indonesia and representatives from the non-government organizations.
The Consulate General’s participation in the Parade is a testimony of the support and goodwill it has towards the City Government of Davao City. It also provided a public relation exercise to show its visibility to the people of Davao City.
