“Malaysian Consulate Experiences
The experiences I had here at the Malaysian Consulate were one of the best. For more than two hundred hours of staying in this consular office, I had met bad as well as good experiences that will leave a mark in which I will never ever forget in my whole existence.
I got to learn many things that I never learned before. I have learned to develop the skill of being cautious of what is happening in my own locality. I experienced the setting of a real diplomatic work that suits to my course degree I am studying. In our first week here, we were being bombarded with the different questions related to our course; we have been introduced to the staffs and done research works. I will always recall the feeling of uncertainty every time I am having a perplexing interrogation with the high officials, the Consul General Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Consul Kamal Norfarid Kamarudin and Vice Consul Nurul Ezhar Salehuddin, the feeling of brain straining for I need to immediately formulate ideas to answer the complex queries. I always got nervous during the submission of our reports for we were being interrogated by the consul before he will accept our report. But when he accepts it, I had that feeling of blissfulness for after nights of preparation, thankfully it has been recognized. I felt the pressure on how tough the real work is and how strong the competition might be in the future.
Aside from developing our competence in doing outside reports, news clippings, taking the notes of the meeting and conferences with the high officials in this office, I had also developed my skills in singing. I will never forget that scene during our Samal Visit 2012 yesterday. It was my very first time to sing in a solo performance in front of that big crowd, having that I was not confident to do so for my voice was not in tune due to sore throat. Before the performance, the consul told us not to be pressured and just enjoy the night, whatever might happen let it be, for this is not a competition. Having those words in mind, I got the confidence to perform and after that I just felt like it was perfect! I also enjoyed playing badminton twice a week together with my fellow trainee friends and with the high ranked officials of the consulate as well as their staff.
The experiences I obtained here were truly remarkable and exceptional. We were not just trained to be mere office worker but we were trained of all the aspects of our capabilities without limitations. I won’t certainly fail to remember all the beneficial lessons, the genuine advises and the outstanding experience I had here. Thanks a lot.”
