Working Visit by Consul General to Marawi City for Dinner Meeting with the Bangsamoro MTCP Alumni Network and former students of International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) on 12 November 2010
As part of the ongoing public diplomacy program, Consul General Mohammad Azhar Mazlan visited Marawi City and had a dinner meeting with the Bangsamoro MTCP Alumni Network and former students of IIUM in Marawi at the Crossroad Restaurant, Saduc, Marawi City on 12 November 2010. Ten Alumni members were present.
In his remarks at the onset of the Meeting, Consul General informed members of the Alumni that they should maintain close contacts and cooperation with the Consulate General. He remarked that the Malaysian Government would continue to extend technical assistance to the officials in Mindanao under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program. The Alumni expressed their gratitude to the Consul General as this was the first ever for them to have met officials from the Consulate General of Malaysia. During the Q & A Session, issues discussed were scholarship opportunities to further studies in Malaysia as well as the Peace Process in Mindanao.
Prior to the Meeting, the Consul General met with the Hon. Engr. Cabib Alonto Tanog, Municipal Mayor of Pualas, Lanao del Sur. The latter took time out to accompany the former for a familiarization tour of Marawi City, which included among others, Lake Lanao, Maranao Craft Center and Central Mosque of Marawi City. The visit although brief, has been successful in making Malaysia more visible in Mindanao.
