Visit by EXCOs and Senior Officials of Perlis to Songkhla, 22 October 2009

A high level delegation from the State of Perlis comprised of two Executive Councilors and the State’s Directors or their representatives from various  departments visited Songkhla on 21 – 22 October 2009 with a mission to further enhance the already cordial relations  that existed between the two sides.

While in Songkhla, the Perlis delegation, led by YB Ahmad Bakri Dato’ Ali, EXCO for Tourism and Development, paid courtesy call on the Commander of the Immigration Central Command for Southern Region, based in Hatyai; the new Governor of Songkhla Province, Mr. Win YU, as well as Police Mejar General Santit Sanboon, the Acting Commander of Police for Region 9 (Police Command for Southern Region).

Discussions between the Perlis’s delegation with the Commander of the Immigration Central Command for Southern Region mainly touched on efforts to stimulate trade and tourism activities between Songkhla province and Perlis without compromising the security concern of both sides.

During the subsequent meeting with the new Governor of Songkhla, the Perlis delegation expressed their hope for the present cordial and good relations be maintained and enhanced further for the benefits of people from the two neighbouring areas. Proposed efforts towards that end included the hosting of Annual Sport involving officials from both sides, to be hosted alternatively between Songkhla and Perlis.
