



Monday, 7 March 2019 – The Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion (SEII) Ms. Maria Jose da Fonseca Monteiro de Jesus together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MOFAC) hosted the celebration of International Woman’s Day in Liquica, which located approximately 45 minutes from Dili. The event with the theme “Same Thinking, Build with Intellectual, Make Changes for Progress” witnessed the participation of various groups namely members of Diplomatic Corps; international organisations (i.e. UN Woman; World Food Program); NGOs; government agencies; Authority of Municipality of Liquica and local residents. Programmes among others were the workshop on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG); talk and experience sharing by woman representatives from the Office of the State Secretary of Vocational Training & Employment Policy; quiz and cultural performance. The Embassy of Malaysia was represented by Ambassador Sarimah Akbar; First Secretary Nur Hidayah Mohd and the spouses of Home Based Staff (HBS). This event is one of the government’s effort to instill the awareness of gender equality among women of Timor Leste.
