Ambassador Sarimah Akbar met with His Excellency Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak at his office on Tuesday, 23 June 2020. The meeting was arranged by the Office of the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak shared the latest update of the current political situation in the country and as well as the government’s plan in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister also talked about the initiatives taken to cushion the economic impact resulting from the pandemic and the plan to recuperate the economy. Ambassador Sarimah also reiterated Malaysia’s commitment in assisting Timor-Leste particularly in human capacity building and the continued support to welcome Timor-Leste as a member of ASEAN.
