H.E. Amb. Chitra Devi Ramiah was invited to give a presentation at the Seminar and Diplomatic Simulation which was organized by the International Relations Department of the Faculty of Social Science of the Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL). The seminar was held from 30th November – 3rd December 2016 at the National Election Commission (CNE) in Dili, Timor-Leste. The purpose of the programme was to disseminate a general understanding to the students about ASEAN in line with the theme of the event which was “Raising the National Knowledge and Awareness in order to achieve a Competitive Future.”
During the session held on 1st December two speakers were invited to speak. H.E. Amb. Chitra Devi V. Ramiah, presented a briefing titled “Timor-Leste Membership in ASEAN: ASEAN Member States (AMS) Perspective” and H.E. Mr. Isilio Coelho, Director General of Bilateral Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste and former Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Japan presented a briefing on “Diplomatic Privileges under the Vienna Convention”. Students from private universities in Dili especially those who are majoring in International Relation studies attended the seminar. The seminar was conducted in an interactive format where many students took the opportunity to ask questions on the topics presented.
