Thursday, 11 July 2019 - The Delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) of Malaysia led by Mr. Junaid Izuddin Bin Abdul Aziz, Senior Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports visited MyCorps projects implemented in Timor-Leste by Malaysian youth who were placed in Dili and Viqueque from mid May till mid July 2019. In Dili the projects included and environmental awareness campaign in Atauro (a small island situated 25 km north of Dili), where trash bins were installed in specific area as part of recycling management process in collaboration with a local business owner on the island. The volunteers also refurbished the children playroom/playground at the Bairo-Pite Clinic and upgrade the condition of the Comoro Child and Youth Centre (CCYC) in Dili. MyCorps projects were also implemented in Viqueque Municipality (Viqueque is a city in the south-east of East Timor, 183 km from Dili). The projects held in Viqueque include English Language tutoring; construction of covered multipurpose area at Kabiraoan Secondary School; Women empowerment project by providing pottery machines for home-based pottery businesses; and Construction of water tanks at Desa Caraubalu and Desa Umauain Craiq.
