On 5 August 2023, the 56th ASEAN Day celebration was held by the three diplomatic missions of ASEAN Member States in Istanbul for the first time: The Consulate General of Malaysia, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Consulate General of the Philippines. As the Chairman of ASEAN this year, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia led the celebration.
At the ASEAN Day Istanbul, Malaysia and ASEAN Member States promoted regional solidarity. It showcased ASEAN's achievements and objectives by introducing South East Asian cuisine at the bazaar, art exhibition, and musical and cultural performance. Malaysia promoted holiday destination and local delicacies such as nasi lemak, nasi ayam, kek batik and burger Malaysia. This occasion serves as a vital platform to emphasize the significance of regional collaboration in addressing shared challenges and fostering economic growth and cultural understanding.
