Caracas, 3 September 2024 – In celebration of Malaysia's 67th National Day and 61st Malaysia Day, the Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas, in collaboration with Venezuela’s National Art Gallery, hosted the ‘Malaysia Goes to School’ program. The interactive event brought together 40 children from various schools across Caracas to introduce them to the rich culture, history, and heritage of Malaysia. This program is part of the Embassy of Malaysia’s ongoing cultural diplomacy efforts aimed at strengthening ties between Malaysia and Venezuela.

The program featured two key activities. The first was an interactive session in which the Embassy presented a presentation on Malaysia’s diverse culture, covering its traditions, customs, and history. The children, accompanied by their parents, were given an immersive experience of Malaysia's unique cultural practices, ranging from its festivals and traditional attire to its iconic landmarks and historical background. This session helped foster a deeper understanding of Malaysia's heritage, promoting cultural exchange and mutual respect.

Following the interactive session, the children participated in a colouring contest designed to engage their creativity while introducing them to symbols and elements of Malaysian culture. The contest featured traditional Malaysian motifs, such as the iconic Petronas Towers, traditional attire, and scenic landscapes. This creative activity allowed the children to connect with Malaysian culture hands-on, making the learning experience both educational and enjoyable.

The ‘Malaysia Goes to School’ program is a reflection of the Embassy’s broader strategy to promote Malaysian culture and strengthen diplomatic ties through youth engagement. By fostering cultural understanding at a young age, the program aims to build lasting connections between the two countries. The involvement of both children and their parents in the program creates a positive impression of Malaysia, enhancing the relationship between the two nations on a personal and community level.

The partnership between the Embassy of Malaysia and Venezuela’s National Art Gallery played a vital role in the success of the program. The Art Gallery’s prestigious status in Venezuela provided a prominent platform for showcasing Malaysia’s cultural richness. This collaboration also highlights the importance of cultural institutions in diplomatic outreach, offering a space for future events that will continue to promote Malaysia’s culture and art to a wider audience in Venezuela.
