Caracas, 3 June 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas held a knowledge-sharing session with students from the Faculty of International Relations at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), as part of its continuous outreach to academic institutions in Venezuela. The session was also attended by several lecturers and focused on introducing Malaysia’s approach to cultural diplomacy and its importance in international relations.
The Chargé d’Affaires delivered a presentation titled “Cultural Diplomacy: Malaysia’s Perspective”, explaining how countries can promote better understanding and build stronger relationships through culture. He shared how Malaysia actively promotes its cultural identity on the global stage through exhibitions, performances, traditional cuisine, and educational initiatives. He also highlighted Malaysia’s recognitions by UNESCO for cultural elements such as Pantun, Mak Yong, Silat, and most recently, Malaysia’s Breakfast Culture, which was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024.
The session also touched on Malaysia’s unique multicultural society, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and other communities. The CDA emphasised how this diversity is a strength that Malaysia proudly shares with the world. While respecting its traditions, Malaysia also promotes culture through modern means such as digital platforms, publications, and youth-driven initiatives.
