Caracas, 8 August 2024 – The ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC) hosted a special commemorative flower offering ceremony at the National Pantheon to mark the 57th ASEAN Day. The event celebrated the strong relationship between ASEAN and Venezuela and was attended by Her Excellency Tatiana Pugh, Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, representing the Venezuelan government. Joining the celebration were foreign representatives, members of international organisations, and local ASEAN communities, all gathered to honour this important occasion.
This year’s ASEAN Day highlighted the enduring partnership between the ACC and the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to ASEAN’s mission of promoting regional peace, security, and economic growth. The Venezuelan government has consistently supported ASEAN initiatives, recognising the bloc’s critical role in fostering stability and cooperation across Southeast Asia and beyond.
ASEAN, comprised of ten member states, is a vibrant and dynamic region known for its efforts in regional integration, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange. Venezuela’s interest in strengthening ties with ASEAN reflects its recognition of the region’s immense potential as a global economic powerhouse. ASEAN nations collectively represent some of the fastest-growing economies in the world, offering significant opportunities in trade, investment, and areas such as technology, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure development.
The 57th ASEAN Day celebration in Caracas was more than just a ceremony—it was a meaningful platform for building connections and sharing cultures. It provided an opportunity for ASEAN member countries and Venezuela to exchange ideas and strengthen mutual understanding. The presence of local ASEAN communities in Venezuela, including diplomats, expatriates, and students, further reflected the strong bonds that have grown between ASEAN and Venezuela over the years.
