Ambassador Mahinder Singh made a courtesy call on the Honourable Mr. Jorge Luis Garcia Carneiro, Governor of the state of Vargas, on 29 May 2013. The capital of Vargas, La Guaira is also home for the country’s main international airport, Simon Bolivar. It also has the second largest seaport by volume; La Guaira Port located 42 km from Caracas. The purpose of the visit was to share Malaysia’s experience in development and enhance closer bilateral relations. Areas of possible co-operation include the establishment of Free Trade Zones and in the area of tourism. In learning from Malaysia’s experiences in development, Governor Garcia Carneiro looked at the possibility of making a study visit to Malaysia in late July 2013.
