H.E. Mahinder Singh made a visit to the plant of Industrias Diana, C.A. in Valencia, Carabobo state, on Friday 5 April 2013. Diana is a socialist production enterprise owned by the Venezuelan Ministry of Food and is a leading producer of cooking oil, margarine and other similar food products. The visit included a briefing and tour of the various facilities of the plant which has a labour force of 960 workers. The management also organized a tour of the construction site of a US$20 million vegetable oil refinery that was being constructed and built with equipment from Malaysia.
Industries Diana expressed a strong interest in partnering with Malaysia for expansion of its oil palm plantations and venturing into oleo-chemicals industry. Mr Edgar Boyer, who participated in MTCP course on “Palm Oil Familiarization Programme” organized by PORIM in 1995, was now the Operations Manager. He had fond memories of his visit to Malaysia and had visited Malaysia in 2011 relating to the expansion of Industrias Diana using Malaysian technology.
