An ASEAN seminar was held at the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) in Caracas on 16 March 2016. The one-day event was held together with the Regional Meeting on Relations between Latin America and the Caribbean and ASEAN. It was attended by approximately 65 participants from the 27 member states of SELA, foreign embassies accredited to Venezuela, regional cooperation/organisations and the University of Simon Bolivar, Caracas.
Apart from the promotion on the establishment of the ASEAN Community, the event was held to look at opportunities on the development of greater economic relations between Latin America and the Caribbean and ASEAN. The event served as a good platform for the participants to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise particularly on the opportunities and challenges facing the two regions.
