The home based staff and their family members made a visit to the Mother Theresa Home and La Sagrada Jerusalem mosque in Valencia and contributed some food and money to these organisations in celebration of Deepavali and Awal Muharam 1435H on 2nd and 3rd November 2013 respectively.
At the Mother Theresa home, PERWAKILAN ladies provided home-cooked food such as chicken curry, chapatis, sweet saffron rice, banana cake and agar-agar for the nuns, many of whom hail from India. The food was sent in appreciation of the nuns who run the home for severely disabled children.
In Valencia, the Embassy staff were welcomed by Sheikh Jihad Hussein, the director of the La Sagrada Jerusalem Mosque. Sheikh Jihad explained that the mosque was built in 1984 and the Palestinian club established was credited to the vision of his late grandfather. According to him, the muslims are now well accepted in Valencia. The complex also accommodates a school for the children of the community which total around 250. Their studies are conducted both in Spanish and Arabic. Brochures about Malaysia and Visit Malaysia Year 2014 were distributed at the mosque.
