The Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas hosted the National Day celebration on 17 September 2013 at the Gran Melia Hotel, Caracas. The invitees included government officials, the diplomatic corp, the business community, members of the press and Malaysians residing in Venezuela. In his address, His Excellency Mahinder Singh, who delivered part of his speech in Spanish, elaborated on Malaysia’s efforts on development and on the ongoing relations between Malaysia and Venezuela. Ambassador Mahinder expressed the need to enhance closer bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Describing Malaysia’s political stability and economic growth, he invited Venezuelans to look at opportunities at developing closer economic linkages and to visit Malaysia coinciding with Visit Malaysia Year 2014. Apart from local Venezuelan food, the Embassy had prepared homemade curry puffs, spring rolls, Malaysian satay and fried Char Kueh Teow which were a big hit among the guests.
