The newly appointed Malaysian ambassador to Venezuela, His Excellency Muzafar Shah Mustafa who arrived in Caracas on 16 August 2016, presented his letters of credence to the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros on Monday, 5 September 2016 at the Miraflores Palace, Caracas.
His Excellency Ambassador Muzafar Shah joined by the other seven (7) residential and non-residential Heads of Mission were received by Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez and greeted by the Presidential Guard of Honour at a full-scale and warm ceremony upon arrival at the presidential palace.
During a private meeting with President Maduro, His Excellency Ambassador Muzafar Shah expressed his gratitude to the host government for the cordial reception and expressed his commitments to further enhance bilateral relations between the two nations to greater heights.
In response, President Maduro emphasized that Malaysia has always been a role model to the developing world and would like to strengthen its cooperation in several potential sectors such as education and tourism.
President Maduro also informed that Venezuela will be hosting the 17th Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) Summit in Margarita from 13 to 18 September 2016 and looked forward to expanding cooperation with all friendly countries including Malaysia under the frameworks of South-South Cooperation.
