A number of Malaysians had participated in a get-together lunch programme at the Chancery of the Embassy in Caracas on 29 March 2014.  In view of the current situation with frequent demonstrations in Venezuela, this was a good opportunity for such a gathering among the small Malaysian community in Caracas.   The event started with the singing of the national anthem and speech by His Excellency Ambassador Mahinder Singh.  HE Ambassador mentioned that the number of Malaysians had reduced following the closing of  the  PETRONAS office in Venezuela since November 2013.  Due to the current situation, he urged  all  Malaysians to  take extra precautions on  security and to keep in contact with  the Embassy on a more frequent basis.  Ambassador Mahinder also mentioned about the current developments  in  Malaysia  especially  on the recent episode involving MH370.

The roti canai and teh tarik competition among Malaysians provided some fun among the participants.  Following this event,  Madam Jagdeep, the spouse of Ambassador demonstrated how to make chapattis.  The programme culminated  with  a buffet  lunch of various kinds of Malaysian food prepared by Perwakilan ladies and for entertainment there was a ‘karaoke’ session of  English, Malay, Spanish and Hindi songs rendered by the newly-formed group of  talented Malaysians.
