VENEZUELA CELEBRATES ITS 197^th ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE, 5 JULY 2008

Venezuela celebrates its 197^th Anniversary of Independence on 5 July 2008. The country achieved its independence from Spain on 5 July 1811.

In Caracas, the Ceremony began by President Hugo Chavez Frias addressing the public from his Miraflores Presidential Palace. It was followed by a Military Parade and cultural dances. In the evening, a series of fireworks were displayed in the city.

Venezuela celebra el 197 aniversario de la Proclamación de Independencia el 5 de julio de de 2008 El país se independizo de España el 5 de julio de 1811.

En Caracas, el Presidente Hugo Chávez Frías comenzó la ceremonia con una transmisión desde Miraflores a la Nación. Luego fue seguido por un desfile militar y bailes culturales. En la noche, se pudieron apreciar una serie de fuegos artificiales por la ciudad.
