On 25 September 2014, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou hosted the National Day Reception to commemorate the 57th Anniversary of Malaysia's independece. The event was hosted by Mr. Abdul Razak Junaidi, acting Consul General at the Garden Hotel, Guangzhou.
Mr. Li Jian, the Deputy Director General from the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office was in attendance to represent the provincial Guangdong Government. An estimated 350 people attended the event which comprised of local government officials, diplomatic corps, Malaysians working or residing in Guangdong and friends of Malaysia.
During the event, the guest was feted with Malaysian food which included Nasi Lemak, Penang Curry Mee, Laksa Johor, Bubur Caca and teh tarik which was prepared by chefs from Lot 10 Hutong, a YTL owned company based in Guangzhou.
