As part of the Consulate General of Malaysia’s effort to promote Langkawi Island as an important tourist destination for the Guangdong market, the Tourism Section organized a Familiarization Trip (FAMTRIP) for members of the media and travel agents to visit Langkawi from 19-21 September 2016.
2. During the FAMTRIP, members of the delegation which included Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General and Ms. Sharon Ho, Consul (Tourism) accompanied more than 20 members of Guangdong media and travel agents for the visit to Langkawi Island. The group departed Guangzhou for Langkawi via Airasia direct flight AK2010 and spent 3 days in Langkawi to promote scenic and interesting places for foreign tourist to visit along with the latest tourism products and facilities the island has to offer.
3. Upon arrival in Langkawi, the delegation was officially received by representatives from Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi (LADA) and Tourism Malaysia office in Langkawi. The Consulate General is confident that with the successful conclusion of the FAMTRIP, this programme would help contribute towards increasing the number of overall Chinese visitors to Langkawi in the near future.
