On 29 August 2017, the Tourism Section, Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou organized the Launching of Luxury Travel in Malaysia held at the W Hotel in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The purpose of the event was to promote luxury and high-end Malaysian tourism products to the Chinese market and entice more affluent Chinese travelers to opt to visit Malaysia as their preferred destination.
2. The event was jointly officiated by YBhg. Datuk Jimmy Choo, Tourism Ambassador of Malaysia, Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General and Mrs. Sharon Ho, Consul (Tourism). During the event, Mrs. Sharon Ho delivered the opening remarks followed by a short speech by Datuk Jimmy Choo. The launching was completed with a simple gimmick with Datuk Jimmy Choo signing his name on an enlarged mock cover of the Luxury Travel magazine produced by the Tourism Section witnessed by Mr. Muzambli and Mrs. Sharon.
3. Over 60 members of the travel agency representatives, tourism players and members of the media were present. A press conference was also arranged for Datuk Jimmy Choo to engage with the media after the launching. Separately, both Mr. Muzambli and Datuk Jimmy Choo gave short interviews to the Guangdong TV.
