On 22 October 2016, a lunch reception with the Malaysian community was organized at the Sheraton Hotel in Zhuhai with the support of the Consulate General Malaysia in Guangzhou and sponsored by a number of Malaysian companies based in Guangdong. The event was officiated by Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General and attended by other members of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou and their families.
2. During the event, the audience was entertained by performances from GZ Tari, a Malaysian cultural troupe consists of children from the Consulate General, a group of Chinese student from Zhuhai University and a live-band. Other programmes included lucky draws with the main prizes including two free tickets on Star Cruise, two free tickets from Airasia and two free tickets to the Macau Grand Prix. A karaoke competition was also organized for the participants.
3. The attendees were treated to a variety of Malaysian cuisines including curry laksa, satay, ais kacang, char kuew teow, beef rendang, nasi lemak, roti canai, popia, durian cake and assorted drinks such as sirap bandung, Malaysian white coffee and teh tarik etc.
4. More than 400 guests comprising of Malaysian diaspora residing in Guangdong province and friends of Malaysia attended the event.
