On 8 May 2015, Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou accompanied by Mr. Ruzlisham Mat Diah , Consul (Investment) and Mr. P Suresh Kumar, Consul (Trade) undertook a visit to the newly established Hengqin Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) located in Zhuhai. During the visit, the Consul General was received by Mr. Jiang Jian Ping, Secretary of Zhuhai Macau Cross Border Industrial Zone/Deputy Director of Hengqin Free Trade Zone.
The Malaysian delegation was briefed on the facilities and current development at both the Hengqin FTZ and the Zhuhai FTZ. Others present included Mr. Zhang Zi Ling, Chairman and General Manager of Zhuhai Baosheng Holding Group Co., Ltd., Mr. Xu Zheng, Vice Director of Zhuhai Macau Cross Border Industrial Zone and also Ms. Susan Chen, Overall Planning Bureau Vice Chief of Zhuhai Macau Cross Border Industrial Zone.
Mr. Muzambli and the accompanying officials toured around the facilities and also visited the Hengqin Pilot Free Trade Zone Imported Commodities Outlet Center which began operating a week earlier. The center is the first conceptual outlet aimed at promoting imported products within the Free Trade Zone to the Chinese consumers at an affordable price. Malaysia is keen to collaborate closely with the FTZ authorities to establish a niche market for Malaysian products in the designated area.
