On 22 – 23 April 2026, Malawakil Kunming, in cooperation with International Strategic Institute Malaysia (ISI) and Zhong Yin Law Firm (Kunming), organized investment promotion event, 2026 Chinese Enterprises Expansion to Southeast Asia Promotion Conference in Kunming under the theme Malaysia as the link to ASEAN Market.
The event was attended by representatives from more than 70 Yunnan-based enterprises from multiple sectors.
The event commenced with remarks from Zhong Yin Law Firm (Kunming), Suchuan Research Travel (Yunnan) Culture and Media Co. Ltd., International Strategic Institute Malaysia (ISI) and CG Kunming. During the remarks, the representatives highlighted relations between Malaysia and China especially on the economic relations in which China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years. The representatives also highlighted multiple initiatives between Malaysia and China such as the East Coast Railway Project and China-Malaysia Twin Parks.
The event continues with presentation by Dr. Gavin Voon, President of ISI on investment in Malaysia. In his presentation, Dr. Gavin highlighted the latest foreign investment policies and business environment in Malaysia. Dr. Gavin also provided an analysis on investment environment in Malaysia from its perspective as a Malaysian think-tank.
