On 18 January 2026, the Consulates-General of ASEAN countries in Kunming (Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) in cooperation with Kunming ASEAN International Trade and Investment Promotion Association (KAIT) organized the 2026 Spring Festival Friendship Gathering at KAIT’s office in Chenggong District, Kunming.
The event was attended by more than 100 attendees, consisted of Consuls- General/ representatives from all Consulates-General of ASEAN countries in Kunming representatives from related government officials, business associations, business owners and members of the association.
The event commenced with the opening remarks by the Secretary-General of KAIT, followed by remarks by CG Kunming (as the representative of the dean of diplomatic corps). In his remarks, CG Kunming highlighted about ASEAN Economic Community as well as the potential economic cooperation between enterprises in Yunnan with their respective counterparts in ASEAN countries, including Malaysia. CG Kunming also highlighted that the Philippines is the current chair of ASEAN for the year 2026.
