The 5th Malaysia-China (Yunnan) Higher Education Dialogue was successfully held on 26 October 2024 at Yunnan Minzu University, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China (PRC) under the theme ‘Delving into Education Cooperation, Carrying on China Malaysia Friendship. The Dialogue was participated by 19 officials from Malaysia and 67 officials from China. The Dialogue was preceded by Welcoming Dinner hosted by Malaysia on 25 October 2024 at Shining Star Hotel Kunming under the theme ‘Selamat Menjamu Selera’.
The Dialogue was jointly organised by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming (CG Kunming) and Yunnan Minzu University (YMU) with the support of Education Malaysia Beijing (EM Beijing) and Yunnan Provincial Department of Education (YPDE). The said Dialogue was officially established in 2019 with the first initiation of the CG Kunming and EM Beijing with the support of YPDE.
The said annual dialogue stands as a strategic platform for Malaysia and China specifically Yunnan to further foster the internationalization agenda in the higher education by strengthening ties and forming strategic alliances to offer an international experience to students particularly, including related experts, and thus, to enhance their cross-cultural, as well as their hard and soft skills that needed for the country’s development as well future integration.
Mini Malaysia cultural day was also held on the sidelines of the Dialogue consisted of exhibition of Malaysian cultural items, cultural performances, Malaysian cultural games, Malaysian cooking demonstration and promotional booths participated by Malaysian higher education institutions that participated at the Dialogue.
