8th China-South Asia Exposition (CSA) and the 28th China Kunming Import & Export Fair was held at Dianchi International Convention Centre in Kunming from 23-28 July 2024.
The opening ceremony was held on 23 July 2024. The high-level dignitaries during the opening ceremony among others, H.E. Ding Zhongli Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress; H.E. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament; H.E. Kikeo Khaikhamphithoune, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos; H.E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister And Foreign Minister of Myanmar; H.E. Ahmed Nazim Deputy Speaker of the Maldivian People's Majlis; H.E. Bimala Ghimire, Vice Chairperson of the Nepalese National Assembly; H.E. Wang Ning, Yunnan Party Secretary and H.E. Li Fei, Vice Minister of Commerce China.
The theme for the expo was "Solidarity and Coordination for Common Development", featuring 15 exhibition areas, including on architectural science and technology, manufacturing, culture, sports and tourism, healthcare, coffee industry, modern agriculture, food and lifestyle, covering 150,000 square meters. The theme country (Guest Country of Honor) for the 8th CSA was Pakistan.
More than 2,000 exhibitors from 82 countries, regions and international organizations participated in the expo. For the first time, the CSA expo established comprehensive service zone for international trade and some pavilions are titled by specific products which was the Coffee Industry Pavilion, hosting over 160 exhibitors.
There were 22 companies from Malaysia participated at 8th CSA. These companies’ participation was facilitated by ES Event Management Sdn. Bhd. consisted of products such as bird’s nest, coffee, chocolate, medicine, durian, jewelry, batik and snacks. There were also Malaysian companies/business associations participated in the Professional Purchasing Group programme during the first day of the CSA.
