The Consul General, Mr Muhamad Akmal Abdul Wahab attended the 16th ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students & the 3rd ‘Chinese-Bridge’ Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students Competition finals on 30 October 2023 at Studio One, Yunnan TV Station.
The competition was co-hosted by Center for Language Education and Cooperation and Yunnan Provincial Government with participation of 296 students from 97 countries, including Malaysia. Malaysia was represented by Ms. Arwen Darwisya binti Amri, form 2 student from SMK Bandar Puchong Jaya B. She was accompanied by her teacher, Mrs. Te Cheu Moi for the competition.
The ‘Chinese-Bridge’ is an annual international competition in which non-Chinese students demonstrate their ability to use the Chinese language and their knowledge of Chinese culture. Since its inception in 2002, the competition has been participated by more than 1.5 million participants from over 160 countries.
For the 2023 edition, 110 school students from 93 countries took part in the competition. The competition comprises various segments, including a knowledge-based question round and a talent show.
